Monthly Prayer & Fasting
Christ at the Centre
At Grace Christian Church, we set aside three days each month for prayer and fasting as a church family. This is not a religious obligation or a way to earn God's favour. Because of the finished work of Jesus Christ, we have already been welcomed into the Father's presence by grace through faith.
Our desire is simply to know Christ more deeply.
Fasting is a biblical practice that helps us intentionally set aside the distractions and comforts of everyday life so that our hearts can be more fully devoted to the Lord. It is an expression of worship, humility, repentance, dependence, and a longing for God's presence. Every hunger pang becomes an invitation to pray, to open His Word, and to remember that our greatest need is not physical bread, but Christ Himself.
As we fast together, we seek the Lord for:
A deeper love for Jesus Christ.
Hearts that are transformed by the Holy Spirit.
Greater obedience to God's Word.
Wisdom and direction for our lives.
Strength and unity within His Church.
Our families, neighbours, and community.
The salvation of those who do not yet know Christ.
Jesus taught that fasting is not something we do for recognition or spiritual status. It is a quiet act of devotion before our Heavenly Father. Our confidence is never in our sacrifice but in the perfect sacrifice of Christ, who has accomplished everything necessary for our salvation.
We also recognize that fasting should be approached with wisdom. Those who are unable to abstain from food safely—including children, pregnant or nursing mothers, those with medical conditions, or those taking certain medications—are encouraged to participate by setting aside another comfort or activity that will help create intentional time with the Lord.
Join Us in Prayer
During each monthly fast, we gather online each morning at 6:00 a.m. for 30 minutes of united prayer. These gatherings are a time to seek the Lord together, encourage one another, and lift up our church, our community, and the nations before Him.
Whether you are new to fasting or have practiced it for many years, we invite you to join us as we fix our eyes on Jesus, delight in His presence, and seek His will together.
"But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly."
— Matthew 6:17–18 (NKJV)
